Dark Colours

Sometimes demonic/satanic undertones

Prominent logos or fonts

Drums and Bass are vital; typically a Guitarist, Bassist, Drummer and Vocalist (sometimes a pianist/keyboard player)

Typically Dark colours with bright colours to contrast (Usually white)

Most Album covers are hiding implicit massages (good or bad)

Older videos for some bands used a lot of CGI to get a point across another way other than the lyrics

In the present day a lot of rock bands either spread out into over genres or experiment by doing an album with multiple genres e.g. Linkin Park, Twenty One Pilots

Majority of band are male

There is also many sub genres to rock, too many to name

Many people would try to argue what rock band is the best but they actually all come under their own sub genres e.g. Green Day being Punk Rock and Oasis being Blues Rock yet many bands tend to appeal to the same crowds

Bauhaus Research

BauhausBauhaus is an art school founded in Weimar, Germany by Walter Gropius in 1919 but the Nazi’s pressured them to cease operations in 1933 while they grew through the 30’s.

The movement uses bold and bright colours along with shapes that stand out to the eye creating a piece of standing out art that will catch the eye of anyone. Sometimes things will be arranged in strange orders making it different to see meaning people will pay more attention as it is something someone not see everyday making it intriguing. Even the buildings in which students seem out of the ordinary and all came with their own unique designs.

 

 

 

Rock Website

I did this design as rock music is on of my most favourite genres and I could use inspirations from other bands and help influence my own work . Twenty One Pilots, Korn and Linkin Park are all major influences for colour, typeface’s and images.

I used a base template of on Wix for a Rock website and changed it to my needs including changing all logos that appeared to the logo I created and making sure I change all information to the correct requirements for my band.Screen Shot 2019-04-23 at 12.24.32.pngThis was the templateScreen Shot 2019-04-23 at 12.23.17.pngThis is what I changed it too to fit my band.

Most changes were small, things like making sure the logo was replaced in all places to suit my needs and all the fonts were changed to fit the band. A lot of the ideas were influenced by the rock band “Korn” and that they use backwards letters, and as many bands do, bizarre fonts.

This is what it was previously to my design not much has been changed besides the logo but it helps keep the design of my website as its own.

Most other things were small details that were changed in order to stick to a pattern or to suit the style and genre.

The aesthetics are very dark and smoky conforming to the normal stereotypes of the rock genre. This mostly takes influence from older bands though as rock as a genre has become a lot less dark and gritty, the same with the heavy metal influences being not as satanic and gritty as the genre used to be.

Overall review:

I believe my site has reached the expectations of what I at least had in mind when I was planning how this site was gonna look, it helps that the music i listen to mainly consists of rock music anyway, and I managed to bring these ideas to life using the wix website creator.

The site is of good quality and takes many influences from other rock bands as mentioned above and these really helped with much of the idea development including typeface/font, the logo and all the colours and effects throughout the pages of the site. The website was also simple and easy to do I made a quick and easy logo in illustrator and added it to the website and replaced the template logos all with my own made logo and all fonts were changed to suit the site and logo as well the colours were changed to darker colours.

At this point in the video the setting, mood and lighting all change conveying a break-up through visuals as well as lyrics. This is where Macklemore comes in and talks/sings about how this break-up has affected him and this also shows through his facial expressions, lighting and setting. The setting shows the same apartment seen earlier in the video but now the only objects that take up room are moving boxes and the lighting is dim conveying a melancholy vibe throughout. His body language and facial expressions talk for themselves within these scenes as well.

The lyrics “When two hearts get broke” are also shown visually by Macklemore having his head in his arms as if he was crying about splitting up with someone as the lyrics suggest an this has clearly effected him on a large scale.
